Compare the2026 BMW XMVS 2025 Lotus Eletre

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The XM has a standard Active Park Distance Control that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Eletre doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the XM and the Eletre have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The XM comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Eletre’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The XM comes with free roadside assistance for 4 years unlimited miles. BMW will send help if you run out of gas, need a jump-start, lock your keys in or need any assistance on the road. Lotus doesn’t give free roadside assistance for the Eletre.

The XM’s corrosion warranty is 4 years longer than the Eletre’s (12 vs. 8 years).

BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the XM for 3 years and 36,000 miles. BMW will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Lotus doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Eletre.

There are over 9 times as many BMW dealers as there are Lotus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the XM’s warranty.

The XM’s 4.4 turbo V8 hybrid produces 12 lbs.-ft. more torque (738 vs. 726) than the Eletre’s electric motors.

The XM Label’s maximum EPA estimated range on a full tank and a full charge is 339 miles, after which it can be refueled at any gas station in minutes. The Eletre’s range is only 280 miles, after which the minimum time to recharge is 20 minutes for only an 80% charge at a specially configured quick charge station not available in most areas.

For more complete vehicle control the XM has Tiptronic, with the available convenience of an automatic transmission and the complete gear control of a manual transmission without the inconvenience of a clutch. Tiptronic allows the driver to eliminate unwanted shifts and maximize engine braking by down shifting while cornering. The Eletre doesn’t offer a transmission that allows complete gear control.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the BMW XM, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a 2-speed automatic is available for the Eletre.

For better stopping power the XM’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Eletre:

The XM offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Lotus doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Eletre.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the XM’s wheelbase is 3.3 inches longer than on the Eletre (122.2 inches vs. 118.9 inches).

For greater off-road capability the XM has a 1.1 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Eletre (8.7 vs. 7.6 inches), allowing the XM to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The XM has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Eletre with its rear seat folded (64.3 vs. 54 cubic feet).

The XM’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Eletre’s (5952 vs. 4960 pounds).

Standard Trailer Stabilization Control on the XM uses the Dynamic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Eletre doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

A Condition-Based Service Display is standard on the XM to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes, brake fluid replacement, and vehicle inspections, based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Lotus doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Eletre.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the XM to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. Heated windshield washer nozzles cost extra on the Eletre.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the XM has a standard rear wiper. The Eletre doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the XM has standard extendable sun visors. The Eletre doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The XM’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Eletre has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The XM is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage than the Eletre, which solely provides FM radio.
